OVERjoyed: My Reflections on Parenthood & Fisher Price CONTEST

As the mom of 5 young children, I try to take life with a healthy dose of humour!  Going to the mall with the kids, I'm used to strangers counting my kids out loud: "1, 2, 3, 4, 5!", or telling me that I look like a parade with my kids in tow!  I've had so many people ask me "Are the kids ALL yours?", that I've come up with the comical response: "No, I run a daycare for kids that only look like me!"  It's meant in a friendly way!

But I am OVERjoyed to have my kids, and I believe that they have enriched my life and made me into a better person along the way.  After all, there was a time that I was childless by choice and had never thought I would have ANY children.  I know, it seems hard to believe coming from the mom of 5, but it's true!  Here is the story of How I Went from 0 to 5 Kids in 5 Years!

One of Our Triple Strollers!
It may have been a difficult task, but I remember being OVERjoyed as I pushed my three youngest boys in this triple stroller.  Yes, it was big, and it took lots of preparation time to get 5 little kids out of the house, but looking back at this photo I was filled with happiness and pride.
Playing Happily with the Fisher Price Musical Farm House
And here is a photo of my daughter playing with her Fisher Price musical farm, which was one of her earliest toys.  This is when she first started playing independently, and to watch her smile and enjoy herself was a very satisfying feeling.  She's wearing my favourite Old Navy knitted heart sweater in the photo!

Brothers Forever
Here is a photo of my two youngest sons, who are only one year apart.  I remember how careful my older son was when meeting his newborn brother--although he was also just a baby.  That is another moment that I experienced intense joy and pride to be their mother.
Curtain Call!
And look: it's a little show starring daddy and his baby girl!  Daddy had just come home from work, but he still made time to play with the kids.  Look how much fun they had together!  I'm OVERjoyed to have captured this moment.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Kids!
Okay, not my whole gang looks OVERjoyed in this photo, but I was!  This is one of the few times that I captured a photo of all 5 of my kids together.  It's typical of the shots I get: a few kids looking at the camera, one looking away, and one crying.  At least no one tried to run away...I'm OVERjoyed for that!

Check out the photo that I submitted into the Fisher Price #MillionMoments contest!  Can you guess which one of the photos above I submitted?  Do you have your own photo that you will be submitting into the contest?

  4. Even with just two kids I find photos seldom turn out like I wish they would, I can't imagine trying to get five kids to co-operate for a camera. You managed to capture so many wonderful moments!
