If You Feel Full, You're Less Likely to Overeat |
Right around mid-October each and every year, I start thinking seriously about food and snacks (how can't I with Thanksgiving feasts and Halloween goodies)! I wonder if I will be able to stay on track with healthy eating, when there is temptation all around me. I also question my willpower, and hope that it is strong enough to carry me through.
Having lost 70 lbs in 9 months, in the early stages I often felt hungry even after I had eaten a full meal. It was frustrating to hear my stomach growling, when it should have been satisfied. I learned during that timeframe that a few things made my stomach feel fuller: drinking lots of water, snacking in between meals on healthy fruits and vegetables, and having a reasonable amount of protein at mealtime.

Kellogg's recently introduced Special K Protein cereal, Morning Shakes and Flatbread Sandwiches, which they believe helps satisfy hunger due to the quantity of protein in each one. I was very skeptical about the Morning Shake when I tried it for the very first time, but I found that it really filled a void in my hunger. Give it a few minutes to work and then: BOOM!, you're full!
In the early stages of my weight loss, I was very successful with staving off hunger by drinking liquid yogurts and the likes instead of eating an extra meal or reaching for unhealthy snacks. If you have a problem with feeling hungry, you may wish to try Special K Morning Shakes and see if they work for you (the chocolate is my "flavour-ite")!

ReplyDeleteI always find that when I choose a healthy snack like fruits or vegetables, as soon as I eat them I feel more hungry than when I first have a snack. It's like my stomach gets a taste for some food and just screams "MORE!" at me.

ReplyDeleteI love fresh fruits and vegetables but find that the cost can be too much and you can get sick of the same cheap vegetables. The calorie reduced bars are great but I have issues stopping at one. I am going to try these shakes now for sure!

ReplyDeleteMy biggest challenge is trying to eat fresh vegetable. Hard to get fresh produce where I live and we have to travel a long distance to get a good variety.

ReplyDeleteI'd love to try these - the biggest challenge I face is remaining full or satisfied. I often have found that it takes a large amount of food to keep the hunger away (I also run into trouble when I forget to take my pills with a large amount of food as they're suppose to be taken, then I have bad side effects). I also found yogurt and the like to help, but unfortunately it didn't stick with me and in less than 2 hours my stomach was aching for something in there.
ReplyDeleteThis was an issue for me as the hardest part of my weightloss journey was losing the desire to binge eat and change my relationship with food. Constantly eating jeopardizes that for me, so feeling full has always been an issue.
My favorite snack is normally potato chips. Sometimes I have a "hankering" for chocolate. I am normally well behaved but at times I cave and regret it later! HaHa
