Peter Pan Flies Onto Disney Junior Canada November 23!

November is Here, November is Dear
How did it get to be November already?  How quickly Remembrance Day is upon us, first semester report cards, and parent-teacher interviews.  We just moved into our new home 2 months ago, and it has been a whirlwind of activity and excitement for the whole family.  In just two little months, all of the kids have made close friends, encountered great teachers and have settled nicely into their new school.

To me, November means the last glimpse of colourful leaves and flowers as the Earth prepares for a short sleep.  As my son and I walk together through nature, I try to point out all the beauty that is around us and ask him if he sees it?  I ask if he sees the bright yellows, oranges and reds of the Maple Trees?  Does he see the splash of lavender before the clover retires?  And can he see the soft, muted blue of chicory?  At 3-years old, he does see it all--and points to plants and animals that I did not see hiding in autumn's waning foliage.
November Showing Its Last Colours

November is also a fantastic month on Disney Junior Canada, with great programming for your little one on crisp fall days with shows like Sofia the First, Strawberry Shortcake and Peter Pan!  A very special princess will make a cameo appearance on Sofia the First, and there will be chances to earn extra entries in the Disney Junior Canada Princesses and Heroes contest!  Read on to hear more about November's schedule--and how to earn bonus entries in the contest!
Princess Belle Makes a Cameo on Sofia the First
Sunday November 10th, 2013 at 11:30am EST
Sofia the First "The Amulet & The Anthem" - Sunday November 10th, 2013 @ 11:30am EST - Princess Belle of Beauty and the Beast, will make a very special appearance in a brand new episode of Sofia the First!  In this episode, "Sofia’s magical amulet bestows a curse upon her after she becomes a bit too boastful about being chosen to sing the Enchancian Anthem at the Harvest Festival.  However, Sofia gets a special visit from Princess Belle who offers her some advice."

Look at the photo of Belle and Sofia above, and you know that this will be an absolutely magical episode with these two royal princesses!  Set your PVR so you don't miss it!
Two Princesses !
Princesses Belle & Sofia the First!
I have discussed being boastful with my children previously, as bragging can cause outrage or tears.  For example, no one likes to hear--and have rubbed into their face--that sister got a larger slice of cake, while their own piece was much smaller.  Or, that brother was given a balloon, but there was none for sister.  It's a work in progress with my kids, but I think they're starting to understand how it feels to be on the receiving end of a braggart's words!

Earn 25 BONUS Entries into Princesses & Heroes Contest! - Find the bonus code that will appear during the Sofia the First episode called "The Amulet & The Anthem", and earn 25 bonus entries into Disney Junior Canada's Princesses & Heroes contest!  Enter the bonus code HERE right after the premiere to claim your 25 bonus entries!  GOOD LUCK!
Strawberry Shortcake's Bery Bitty Adventures Start Sun Nov 2, 2013 @ 5:30pm ET!
Strawberry Shortcake's Berry Bitty Adventures - Starting Sunday November 2nd, 2013 @ 5:30pm EST - Your child will love the NEW episodes of Strawberry Shortcake’s Berry Bitty Adventures, starring Strawberry Shortcake--who lives inside a Strawberry Patch with her 6 best friends!  In this 3rd season, boy character Huckleberry Pie enters the show--and brings 6 new puppies to Berry Bitty City inside his pet adoption van!  Aww!  Tune into the show for adventure, fun and lots of laughs!

Of note, Strawberry Shortcake's Berry Bitty Adventures show is very "fruit forward", showing young viewers healthy eating choices that include fruits and vegetables as part of a balanced diet.
Have a Berry Happy Day!
I'm very fortunate that my kids have a natural desire to reach for fruits and vegetables, each and every day!  Watch the video, below, of my 3 youngest boys enjoying an apple together, and you'll see what I mean!  My middle child started a new tradition in our household this year with his "Good Night Apple", as he calls it.  What is a "Good Night Apple"?  He enjoys an apple about an hour before bedtime so he isn't hungry and falls into a peaceful slumber!  Now all 5 of my kids join into this household meme!

Peter Pan - The Disney Classic Feature Film - PREMIERES on Saturday November 23rd, 2013 @ 6:00pm EST!
 -
In this timeless movie about staying young at heart and never "growing up", Wendy and her brothers fly away with Peter Pan, the hero in their storybooks, and visit the magical world of Neverland!  There, their imaginations run wild with characters like Tinkerbell and Captain Hook, and enjoy great adventures together!  Set your PVR so you don't miss this wonderful movie!
Peter Pan Premieres on Disney Junior Canada
Sat Nov 23, 2013 @ 6:00pm EST!
Check out this magical "You Can Fly!" movie clip from Disney's Peter Pan, below!

My kids are fascinated by magical stories like "The Princess and the Pea" and "The Frog Prince".  When we read these books together, the kids always ask me about the plausibility of the storyline.  For example, How could the princess feel a pea under 20 mattresses?, or How could the princess change the frog back to his princely state with a kiss?  I always relish these questions, and savour the childhood innocence that allows for the existence of The Tooth Fairy, The Easter Bunny and Santa Claus.
Have You Ever Heard of a Farm that Grows Balloons?
We have many favourite children's storybooks in our household, but one magical tale that we enjoy is called: Harvey Potter's Balloon Farm by Mark Buehner.  It's a bright, and beautifully illustrated book about a farmer who grows balloons on his farm, and about the apprentice that learns the trade from him.  My kids seem to love stories about magical balloons, including Disney's masterpiece UP!

Have you or your child ever watched Peter Pan together or have you ever dreamed of flying?  What is your favourite "magical" story or storybook?

  2. Typically, I am not a fan of November - it always seems so wet and dark. But, the way you put it makes me look twice at the month of November.

We are looking forward to the month ahead at Disney Junior as well.

    1. Country Mouse, City Mouse - November does have a lot to offer, but sometimes it's hard to see with the increasingly cooler days. But imagine if our winters had November winter: that would be the best!

  9. My family and I actually all sat down together, to watch "Peter Pan" for my birthday dinner-and-a-movie. My mom cried! I didn't see it until many years later, on home video. I always had the record and book set growing up.
