Our A Turtle's Tale 2 Party! On DVD July 9th!

A Turtle's Tale 2 Swims to DVD on July 9th, 2013!
Canada Day was full of lots of fun for us: we listened to live music, walked a local main street for Canada Day festivities, saw clowns, and had A Turtle's Tale 2: Sammy's Escape From Paradise DVD party!  My family loves movies, and we often watch one after the kids are settled for the evening.  Our family tradition is to rotate and allow each child to pick the evening's movie.  If the kids are snackish, we serve sliced up veggies or fruit.  Popcorn is for special movies!
Our Guests Under the Sea!
The kids enjoyed getting dressed up for the A Turtle's Tale 2 party under the sea!  In keeping with the theme, we had a turtle, dolphin, and a mermaid!  The children had fun decorating the room with green and blue streamers and balloons, making our house look a seaweed-filled ocean.  We placed lobster, octopus, and turtle stuffed animals around the room to add to this theme!
McElligot's Pool by Dr. Seuss Set the Underwater Mood
After a full day of non-stop Canada Day activities, we set the mood for the A Turtle's Tale 2 movie by reading the McElligot's Pool book by Dr. Seuss.  It was a nice tie-in, as it looks at what one boy imagines lives under the water.  This book is an favourite of mine, from when I was a child.  We asked the kids if they could name some animals that lived in the sea, and it was an excellent segue into the A Turtle's Tale 2 movie!

We popped the popcorn and started the A Turtle's Tale 2 movie.  The cute baby sea animals with the big  puppy dog eyes immediately caught the kids' attention, and the kids really loved the underwater animation of the movie.  If your kids like Littlest Pet Shop characters, then A Turtle's Tale 2 baby characters definitely have that adorable look!

Synopsis:  The A Turtle's Tale 2 movie is about leatherback turtles Sammy and Ray, who are trapped and put on display in an elaborate underwater aquarium.  The turtles must find a way to escape and reunite with grandchildren Ricky and Ella, but breaking out isn't going to be easy!  However, teamwork prevails and there is a happy ending for the turtles!  "Dive into a fun-filled adventure!"

When I asked the kids what they thought of the movie, the kids were all very enthusiastic and said "Great!"  Consensus was that turtle hatchlings Ricky and Ella were the favourites (due to the mega cute factor), although both octopuses were also well received (again cute factor, and the girls liked that they were pink)!  My guests aged 5 years and older sat for the full 92 minutes of the movie, but I would recommend watching the movie in two separate instalments for younger children.

The kids did enjoy the storyline of A Turtle's Tale 2 very much.  They did not like seeing Sammy and Ray captured, but did take great satisfaction in seeing them escape!  The movie is rated G, and recommended for children aged 3- to 10-years old, which I believe is accurate.  Both boys and girls at my party enjoyed the movie, and I believe that a tale of separation and reunion always a popular theme.

A Turtle's Tale 2: Sammy's Escape From Paradise comes to DVD on Tuesday, July 9th, 2013!
